Smile Makeovers

Smile makeovers use porcelain laminate veneers to rejuvenate a smile. Porcelain Laminate Veneers are a strong and natural looking way to change the shape, colour and alignment of the teeth.

Tooth veneers can best be described as being like false fingernails and are thin pieces of porcelain which are bonded to the front surface of your own teeth.

Porcelain Laminate Veneers are used to improve the aesthetic appearance of the teeth, to eliminate the gaps between the teeth, or address the problems of a 'gummy' smile, short or small teeth. They are often used as an alternative to moving misaligned or rotated teeth with lengthy orthodontic treatments.

Porcelain veneers can be used to provide a 'dental face lift'. The tooth veneers are made slightly thicker at the gum level on the upper teeth, which provides more support for the upper lip, 'plumping up' the lip, and reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles in the mouth area. If teeth are badly worn, veneers can be used to 'open' the smile to the natural height.

The use of Porcelain Laminate Veneers is usually minimally invasive to the natural tooth and provided a good oral hygiene routine is followed after your smile makeover at our dental surgery in Sheffield, they are a long-term solution to a number of problems.

The No-Preparation veneer system allows porcelain laminate veneers to be placed on the teeth without removing any tooth substance. It is a more tooth-friendly system, and is particularly suitable for younger people who want cosmetic dentistry yet want to retain the long-term health of their teeth.

Ceramic Veneers

Ceramic veneers are porcelain facings bonded onto teeth to recreate the shape and colour. They may be placed on individual teeth if necessary or on several teeth to recreate smile (see smile makeovers LINK)

Porcelain Crowns

Crowns have traditionally been fabricated using porcelain bonded to metal. This can lead to a dark or “black” line appearing over time at the gum level around the crown. To avoid this, all ceramic restorations with no metal can be used.

We generally use this type of crown when aesthetics are important (for example at the front of the mouth or where teeth are visible when you smile)

Gum Contouring

Gum recontouring can be used to align and improve the gum level around teeth. This is a simple procedure and can make a real difference to your smile.

Composite Bonding

Bonding is a process in which enamel like filling material is applied to a tooth’s surface, sculpted to an ideal shape, hardened and polished. It can be used to restore minor chips and close small gaps often in one appointment.
